Pool service maintenance plans: what to include and how to price them
A pool service plan is a recurring agreement for regular cleaning and water care, usually weekly, with a set monthly price. The work is already recurring, so the plan is about defining exactly what each visit covers, what's extra, and how chemicals are handled, so the price holds up.
Also called: weekly service plan · pool care plan · service agreement

How to price it
- 01Cost per visit should include chemicals if they're in the plan, plus time on site and drive time between stops.
- 02Price by pool size and features (spa, salt system) rather than one flat price.
- 03If chemicals are included, state a fair-use level so one problem pool doesn't wipe out the margin.
Visits per year: 52 assumes weekly service all year. If you're seasonal or every two weeks, count the visits you'll actually make.
Run your pool service numbers →Scheduling the visits
Pool service is route work, so plan members by area. Group new members into existing routes before opening a new one.
Common mistakes
- ✕All chemicals included with no limit
- ✕Pricing every pool the same
- ✕No clear rule for missed visits due to weather
Plan agreement checklist
Whatever the trade, put these in the customer's agreement. Have your own adviser review the wording.
- ☐Exactly what each visit includes, and how many visits a year
- ☐What isn't included (parts, repairs, materials) and how those are priced
- ☐The price, how it's billed (monthly or yearly) and what happens if a payment fails
- ☐The term, whether it renews automatically, and how the customer is reminded before it does
- ☐How to cancel, and what happens to visits already used or not yet used
- ☐Any member discount, written as a clear rule rather than "discounts on everything"
- ☐How you book visits, and what happens if the customer can't give access
Pool service plan questions
Should chemicals be included in the price?+
Either works, but say which. If included, set a normal-use level and price recovery treatments separately.
Monthly or per-visit pricing?+
A flat monthly price is easier for customers. Use the calculator with your weekly cost per visit and 52 (or your real visit count) to check the monthly price covers it.
Can I run a maintenance plan in Jobber today?+
You can set up recurring jobs and visits in Jobber for each member. Our free membership audit can also read a Jobber visits export to spot repeat clients. Check Jobber's own help centre for its current features.
What if my plan renews automatically?+
Tell customers clearly when they sign up, remind them before it renews, and make cancelling easy. Some US states have rules about automatic renewals, so check the rules where you work. This is general information, not legal advice.
How many customers will join?+
We don't publish a typical sign-up rate because we haven't found a source we trust. Start with your own numbers, such as how many customers rebook each year, and test a low, middle and high rate in the calculator.
