Privacy notice (Draft)
Last updated 28 Oct 2026
This notice explains what personal data Wrenchpost Ltd (to be incorporated) ("we", "us") collects through the Wrenchpost website and free tools, and why. We are the controller of that data. Company number: [number]. Registered office: [address]. Contact: [contact email].
The short version
- Our free tools run in your browser. The numbers you type into them are not sent to us.
- If you unlock a full report or join early access, we keep your email address, which tool or product it was for, and a few simple counts or answers. Nothing else.
- We don't sell your data. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time.
What we collect
When you use a free tool
Calculations happen on your device. Inputs such as customer counts, prices and costs stay in your browser tab and are not sent to our servers. We also save a small flag in your browser's local storage so it remembers you've unlocked a report on that device. You can clear it by clearing your browser data.
When you give us your email
- Your email address.
- The tool or product you signed up from (for example "maintenance-plan-calculator" or "early-access:tierstead").
- Simple counts or answers, such as a customer count and member count from the calculator, or your trade and job software from the early-access form.
- Whether you ticked the box to receive updates, and the date and time.
We don't ask for your name, phone number, address or payment details in the free tools.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To send what you asked for (the full report or early-access news): to take steps at your request, and our legitimate interest in running the Service.
- Occasional tool updates: only if you ticked the box, based on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Simple counts: our legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how the tools are used, so we can improve them.
Unsubscribing
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also email [contact email] and we'll remove you. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails; you can also ask us to delete your record entirely.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and store sign-ups: [hosting provider], [database provider, e.g. Supabase] and [email delivery provider]. They process data only on our instructions. [List final providers and where they store data, including any transfers outside the UK and the safeguards used.]
How long we keep it
We keep your email and sign-up record until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until [retention period] after our last contact with you, whichever is sooner.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email [contact email]. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. If you're outside the UK, you may have similar rights where you live.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. [Update this section if analytics are added.]
